The Spirit Of Joshua: Taking Over And Possessing The Promised Land!

Oct 11
3 min read

““Moses My servant is dead. Now therefore, arise, go over this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them—the children of Israel. Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given you, as I said to Moses.  Be strong and of good courage, for to this people you shall divide as an inheritance the land which I swore to their fathers to give them. Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go. This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”” Joshua 1:2-3, 6-9 NKJV

The Spirit of Joshua is the alignment in the Spirit of God through the Word of God, courage, faith, obedience, action, perseverance, and leadership. It is the mindset of a leader who refuses to remain in the wilderness when God has called him to cross over into the Promised Land.

God has not called us to remain in a place of limitation and stagnancy. He calls us to arise, move forward in faith, overcome obstacles, and fulfill His divine assignment.

THE SPIRIT OF LIMITATION AND STAGNANCY: FEAR AND DISMAY

Dismay is a feeling of distress, discouragement, or alarm caused by difficulties or unexpected challenges.

Fear and dismay can paralyze a person, delay progress, and prevent a leader from moving forward. But God commanded Joshua to be strong and courageous because His presence would accompany him.

When we live in the Spirit that was in Joshua, we can take over our promised land.

There are several characteristics of the Spirit of Joshua.

THE SPIRIT OF JOSHUA

1. THE SPIRIT OF THE WORD OF GOD — SPEAK IT, MEDITATE ON IT, AND OBEY IT

“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night…”  Joshua 1:8 (NKJV)

The foundation of Joshua's success was his alignment with the Word of God.

The Word must be in our mouth.

The Word must fill our mind and heart.

The Word must govern our decisions and actions.

The Word must become the foundation of our leadership and ministry.

God's instruction was not merely for Joshua to know the Word but to observe and obey everything written in it. Discipleship allows us to receive the Word that transforms.

Once we are in the right connection, our lives are being changed. The Word of God transforms our thinking, and we receive the plan of God in our lives.

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11
