The Spirit of Joshua: Word and Courage

Oct 18
3 min read

If we always think on what God has done in our lives, we will always overflow with gratitude. Nevertheless, the best is yet to come. There is more in store for us. The Lord is not yet done doing great and mighty things.

I have met few people who have dreams but there is something hindering them. The Spirit of limitation and stagnation. However, in this ministry, it has been destroyed IN THE MIGHTY NAME OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST!

“Moses My servant is dead. Now therefore, arise, go over this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them—the children of Israel. Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given you, as I said to Moses.” Joshua 1:3-4

In this verse, Joshua was given a vison by God- a vision of conquest. He is in a position to dream big because of God’s assurance.

When we were yet children, we were taught to dream big – to wear doctor’s robes, to wear the lawyer’s formal attire, the engineer’s gear, or the policeman’s blue uniform.

However, truth be told, not every dream comes to pass. The reason is not merely physical. This is the Spirit of Limitation.

There is another spirit lingering around the world today hindering dreams. The spirit of stagnation.

Because of this stagnation, Christians wonder “why am I not successful when those who are not serving God are successful?”. This leads to many Christians doing things contrary to God’s principle. The devil is a liar. They are being led to bad success.

What is bad success? Murag nay buslot ang panudlanan. The money goes out immediately. There is sickness. There are problems. One cannot enjoy his or her money because the riches are just for hospital bills and restrictions.

However, the Lord promises another kind of success.

“Good success” Joshua 1:8

The Lord assures good success but it is not handed out in a silver platter.

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.  Joshua 1:8

What needs to be strengthened? Our productivity. Laziness and idleness have no place in the hearts of the children of God. They are actively pursuing the best of God in their lives.

Spirit of the Word of God

The moment that our lives are saturated with the word of God, the Spirit gives life (John 6:63). Joshua had it. Joshua had no limitation that he cannot break through; no hindrance that he didn’t overcome. This is why the word of God needs to be saturated in our lives. We overcome.

Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God. Matthew 4:4

That’s why we urge you family to go to church. Commit every Sunday to the Lord. Here we receive the word that comes from the mouth of God. Let the Word of God grow.

Spirit of Courage

Limitation gives laziness to the person. It frustrates the person to serve God. That person will not be willing to do ministry, serve people, commit to discipleship.

Stagnancy makes the person busy in the everyday things of life so that he cannot meditate on God’s word.

We must refuse to be plagued by the spirits of limitation and stagnation. Good courage is our answer. We will be courageous in fighting limitation and stagnation.

Forget busy schedules. Choose to meditate on God’s word always. Make room for your relationship with God. Be courageous to choose God always.

Starting today, refuse to not eat the word of God. Be courageous.
