Advancing Even in the Midst of Resistance

Comfort has never produced greatness. So family, stretch and reach forward.

"Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus." Philippians 3:12–14 (NKJV)

Paul’s words, “forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead”, capture the essence of stretching. The imagery is that of a runner leaning forward, straining every muscle to cross the finish line. Stretching is never easy—it pulls us beyond our comfort zones, demanding effort and sometimes even pain.

God stretches us in multiple dimensions:

• He stretches our prayer life, calling us to deeper communion.

• He stretches our obedience, asking us to trust Him even when His commands defy our logic.

• He stretches our faith, requiring us to believe beyond what we see.

• He stretches our patience, teaching us endurance in seasons of waiting.

Stretching is not punishment—it is preparation. It enlarges our capacity to receive more of God’s promises. Just as a wine skin must be stretched to hold new wine, so must our spirits be stretched to hold the new dimensions of greatness God intends for us. 2026 is our year of Supernatural Favor. If we are to step into greatness, stretch and persevere!

The Press of Perseverance

Paul continues, “I press toward the goal…” The word “press” implies resistance. To press means there is opposition, friction, and weight pushing back. Yet, greatness is born in the press.

Consider the lives of biblical figures:

• Joseph pressed through betrayal and false accusation.

• David pressed through wilderness seasons before ascending the throne.

• Daniel pressed through exile, yet remained steadfast in prayer.

James reminds us of the blessing in endurance:

"Bulahan ang tawo nga mobarog taliwala sa mga pagsulay, kay human niya madaog ang mga pagsulay, makadawat siya sa kinabuhi nga walay kataposan ingon nga ganti nga gisaad sa Ginoo alang sa mga nahigugma kaniya. Kon adunay mga pagtintal nga moabot kanato, dili kita moingon nga gitintal kita sa Dios. Ang Dios dili matintal sa paghimo ug daotan, ug dili usab siya motintal kang bisan kinsa. Matintal ang tawo kon dag-on siya sa daotan niyang tinguha. Ug kon tumanon niya ang daotan niyang tinguha, ang sangpotanan niini mao ang pagpakasala; ug kon magpadayon siya sa pagpakasala, ang iyang padulngan mao ang kamatayon. Busa mga minahal kong mga kaigsoonan, ayaw kamo palingla sa inyong kaugalingon."  — James 1:12–16 (APD)

Delay is not denial. Opposition is not cancellation. After enduring through moments of hardship, the blessing of the Lord abounds. The march of greatness is step after step, even when the terrain is rough. Pressing forward is proof that you are moving toward destiny.

When the Road Feels Long

Paul wrote these words not from a palace but from a prison. Chains surrounded him. Bars confined his body. His environment did not define his advancement. Family, your environment does not define your advancement.

This is a powerful reminder: you can be physically confined yet spiritually advancing. You can be limited by circumstances yet unlimited in purpose. Greatness is not determined by where you stand but by where your faith is marching.

Revival Call

Are you weary? Are you facing resistance that makes you question whether you can keep going?

Press anyway.

Stretch anyway.

Advance anyway.

Resistance is evidence that you are moving. The enemy does not resist those who are stagnant; he resists those who are advancing. Every step you take in faith is a declaration that you are marching in greatness.

So in this month of March, let your life echo Paul’s words: “I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”

Keep marching. Keep pressing. Keep stretching. Greatness awaits those who refuse to stop.

Worship the Lord your God, and his blessing will be on your food and water. I will take away sickness from among you, Exodus 23:25
