How to Transform our Mind

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Romans 12:2 NKJV

Kung wa ta kabalo asa atong sipyat, di mabag-o ang dagan sa atong kinabuhi. If we do not know where we sinned, we will never move on to repent and be transformed. Life is that simple. Your life today is the product of your decisions. More so, your decisions before are influenced by your values then.

Now, whatever you decide today will influence your tomorrow. That is why it is important to guard our decisions. Dili magdali-dali kay basin masipyat unya.

Ayaw kamo pagsunod sa mga gawi sa mga tawo niining kalibotana. Tugoti ninyo ang Dios nga mobag-o sa inyong huna-huna, aron masayran ninyo ang kabubut-on sa Dios, kon unsa ang maayo, hingpit, ug ang makapahimuot kaniya. Mga Taga-Roma 12:2 APD

Kasagara sa mga gawi sa kalibutan, sukwahi sa maayo, hingpit, ug ang makapahimuot na plano sa Diyos. Oftentimes, the norms of this world are contrary to the good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

That's why Paul was clear. We need to be unchained to the pattern of this world through allowing God to transform and renew our mind. It is only through transformed mind that we will know and conceive the good, acceptable and perfect will of God. Without the transformed mind, the will that a person is following is his own will or worst the will of Satan.

What happened today in my ministry, family, and finances, it is because God has renewed my mind. Pastors of Misamis Oriental visited our church compound in Balingasag. They could not believe what the Lord has done in our church. When we allow our minds to be renewed by God, God will entrust us new things. Kapiyalan ta. Through a renewed mind, God will use us more and more. Family, there is no life more fulfilling than a life that pleases God. Walay laing pagkinabuhi aning kalibutana nga fulfilling kaayo, kung kita nagkinabuhi nga makapahimoot sa Diyos.

Following Our Own Will is Dangerous

What do we mean by "allowing God"? It means that it depends on us to let God move in our thinking.

Is there any will aside from God? Absolutely. What will happen if we don't depend on God's will? We follow our own will and that is dangerous.

There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death. Proverbs 14:12 NKJV

When someone follows their own will, everything seems to be controlled. Everything seems well at the line of sight. However, the sight of man is not as broad as beyond the horizon. There are things that can only be seen through the perspective of God. The danger of following our own will and plans is that the end may lead to destruction - worse, it leads to destruction. “Everything is meaningless,” says the Teacher, “completely meaningless!” What do people get for all their hard work under the sun? Ecclesiastes 1:2-3 NLT

Even the wisest man on Earth, King Solomon, said this about following the pursuits of this world: Walay kapuslanan! Wala gayoy kapuslanan ang tanan! Unsay makuha sa tawo sa iyang paghago dinhi sa kalibotan? It might be good now, but in the end one can say that all their efforts are a waste - because everything in this world, apart from the Lord, meaningless.

Worse, Following the Enemy's Will is Dangerous

What will happen if someone don't depend on God's will? They will follow their own will and worse, they follow the plans of the Enemy - Satan himself. When Peter persuaded Jesus not to face the sacrifice on the cross, Jesus rebuked Peter saying "Get behind me Satan!" Is Peter Satan? No, but Peter here is following the things that are not of God. He is following things that concern the human mind.

You are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men. Matthew 16:23

The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. John 10:10

Starting today, be careful of your mind. We can only allow God to transform our mind if we are conscious that our mind is the battlefield. The mind is an arena. Ang tinuod na spiritual warfare naa sa hunahuna. Negative thoughts must never dwell the mind and mouth.

Mao nang sayop ang "follow your heart". That worldly wisdom is wrong. Oftentimes, it leads to destruction.

But Peter took him aside and began to reprimand him for saying such things. “Heaven forbid, Lord,” he said. “This will never happen to you!” Jesus turned to Peter and said, “Get away from me, Satan! You are a dangerous trap to me. You are seeing things merely from a human point of view, not from God’s.” Matthew 16: 22-23 NLT

Daghan tao wala nakabalo kung kani nga panghuna-huna iya sa Ginoo. There are four voices in a man's mind: your voice, God's voice, Satan's voice, and everyone else's voice. When we surrender our minds to God, the Lord gives us the anointing to truly hear God's voice. That's why our spiritual leaders and parents in the Lord can help us - because there are a lot of identifying Christians that are having a hard time hearing God's voice.

When we connect with a spiritual leader, it brings covering. When we connect our lives to them, we get discernment. That is why we need spiritual leaders in the Lord. That is similar to newborns and infants. When nobody protects and cares for them, they will be unruly and untidy. In the same way, our spiritual leaders take care of us and allow us to grow in the Lord.

When we are aligned in the right connection, the anointing in Mark 16:17 will begin to manifest. We receive our portion.

"And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues." Mark 16:17

Driving Out Attacks in the Mind

We need to be aware of three spirits that may attack our minds:

1. Spirit of Fear - that is a general in the kingdom of darkness

2. Spirit of Doubt - that is an evil spirit

3. Spirit of Worry

We need to drive them out. If someone cannot drive these out, it wrecks havoc in their hearts and minds. That's why as early as now, don't allow these spirits to dwell in the battle field. Cast them out.

That's why in times of difficulty, we have leaders that can help us. If the leaders are not that strong in the Lord, consult with your pastor. If not, then consult your bishop.

The quest to renew and transform our mind continues.

Conclusion

1. We need someone who will lead and cover us so that our minds will be continually transformed.

2. We need the Rhema, the revelation of God in God's word that is real and alive in our present situation.
